Why study in Turkey?
Compare the programme and institution before choosing a city or scholarship route. Check the language of teaching and the qualification awarded. A direct university application and a Türkiye Scholarships application can have different requirements and selection stages, so plan each route on its own terms.

Make a strong start
Admission requirements & language
- Ask the university which school or degree qualifications, examinations and academic results it accepts.
- Check whether the programme requires a language test, entrance assessment, interview or preparatory study.
- For postgraduate courses, confirm subject prerequisites and any requested references, proposal or graduate-test evidence.
Language preparation
Confirm whether the programme is taught in Turkish or English and which evidence or preparatory course the university requires.

Use the institution's application dates and the current scholarship calendar; they may not be the same.
Your document checklist
Prepare academic records, identity documents, language evidence and any course-specific references, statement or portfolio. Ask the institution about translations and verification. Keep the admission checklist separate from the visa checklist.

A budget you can plan around
Tuition fees & living costs
Ask for the current tuition quote, its currency and the payment schedule. Public and foundation/private institutions can have different fee structures. Add accommodation, insurance, residence-document costs and daily expenses; include any required language or preparatory year in the full budget.

Explore funding
Scholarships & financial support
Türkiye Scholarships offers competitive programmes that can include university placement, tuition, accommodation, insurance and other support. Check study-level, age, academic and programme eligibility for the current call. Also research institutional awards; applying does not guarantee a scholarship.
Record each award’s deadline, documents, coverage and renewal conditions. Keep a workable plan for costs that an award does not cover.

Student visa & residence guidance
Review the education-related entry requirements with the responsible Turkish mission and the student residence requirements with the Presidency of Migration Management. Prepare university admission, identity, financial and health-cover evidence as required. Entry and residence documents serve different purposes.
Use the current official instructions for your nationality, programme and place of application. Admission and immigration decisions are made separately. Nexo can help you organise your questions and preparation; the relevant authority decides the application.

Plan beyond the classroom
Work during study & graduate options
Foreign students must obtain the applicable work permission to work. Check the conditions for your study level and any separate residence route after graduation; avoid assuming that a degree automatically provides a one- or two-year work visa.
Build your study budget around available funds. A possible future job should not be treated as confirmed funding.

Questions about studying in Turkey
Can I apply with Pakistani qualifications?
Your institution assesses the level, subjects and grades of your qualification. Share your academic history with Nexo, then check the exact course’s published criteria and any recognition or preparatory requirements.
Which language test should I prepare for?
Confirm whether the programme is taught in Turkish or English and which evidence or preparatory course the university requires.
Check admission and visa requirements before booking a test.
How much should I budget?
Request an up-to-date tuition quotation for your chosen course and campus. Add living expenses, insurance, application and visa charges, travel and a contingency. Review the costs section above and confirm financial-evidence requirements with the authority.
Is a scholarship or visa guaranteed?
No. Scholarships have their own eligibility and selection processes, and the immigration authority decides visa applications. An admission offer does not guarantee funding, permission to work or a visa.
